Lichgates Blog Tour and Giveaway

Tour Schedule

Lichgates

Kara Magari is about to discover a beautiful world full of terrifying things--Ourea.

Kara, a college student still reeling from her mother's recent death, has no idea the hidden world of Ourea even exists until a freak storm traps her in a sunken library. With no way out, she opens an ancient book of magic called the Grimoire and unwittingly becomes its master, which means Kara now wields the cursed book's untamed power. Discovered by Ourea's royalty, she becomes an unwilling pawn in a generations-old conflict--a war intensified by her arrival. In this world of chilling creatures and betrayal, Kara shouldn't trust anyone... but she's being hunted and can't survive on her own. She drops her guard when Braeden, a native soldier with a dark secret, vows to keep her safe. And though she doesn't know it, her growing attraction to him may just be her undoing.

For twelve years, Braeden Drakonin has lived a lie. The Grimoire is his one chance at redemption, and it lands in his lap when Kara Magari comes into his life. Though he begins to care for this human girl, there is something he wants more. He wants the Grimoire.

Welcome to Ourea, where only the cunning survive.

My Review

Kara and her father are taking an early summer retreat to get away after Kara's mother's death.  As Kara was hiking through the woods, she unknowingly passed through a lichgate that transported her into the world of Ourea.   To get out of a brutal storm, Kara opened a door that was embedded into a mountain side, and was thrown into a library with no way out.  There, she picked up a book, the Grimoire, and became the Vagabond....the one person to save the kingdoms of Ourea and the realm Kara is familiar with.

Kara meets Braeden when she is captured, however escape with some help and Braeden takes Kara to is home of Hillsdale.  Word gets out that the Vagabond has returned after a thousand years, and the kingdom's are all interested in her, but not for the same reasons.

Kara opens the Grimoire often to ask the original Vagabond questions, and to help her learn how to wield the magic trapped within.  The Vagabond tells her that she needs to find the hidden keys, which will make a map to the hidden vagabond village.  He tells her that she needs to go there to finish what he started.

The Blood of Hillsdale requests that Kara travel the kingdoms, to earn their trust and gain their truce to fight the evil kingdom of the Stele, after the Blood Stele murders his mother.  From there, the real journey begins.

The magical world of Ourea is beautiful yet brutal at the same time.  Kara is a very strong character, who has excepted the roll of Vagabond.  The the kingdoms distrust towards each other,  has caused Kara to trust no one except Braeden.  Kara learns fast, keeps a level head, and her strong will keeps her neutral.  The journey is action packed with twists and turns.  There is not one dull moment in the plot, which ended to fast for me!  I didn't want the story to end, especially when there is a little hint about Kara's identity.  For me it was a thrilling and frustrating cliff hanger!  The imagination of the completely different kingdoms was brilliant.  It was an amazing read, and I look forward to the sequel to see where the adventure takes Kara and Braeden.
